I loved this write-up on sketchbooks.....  i fall into the "i believe they are good but don't do them" category, as do most people i know.  This article really breaks it down into the root of it all... thinking... its not about drawing well, or necessarily drawing at all... its about thinking, especially visually, and putting your thoughts on paper.

Best album title ever award.

Relatively new French Band "Phoenix" has just put out a new album entitled Johann Sebastian Phoenix, and I deem it winner of the best album name of the year award. Here is a review from Rolling Stone:

If you listen to only one song this year about the inner turmoil of 19th-century classical composer Franz Liszt, make it Phoenix's "Lisztomania." These diabolically crafty French rockers use the composer (a major teen idol in his day) as a symbol of creative conflict, with singer Thomas Mars emoting over an exuberant rush of guitar pop. But the band sounds more musically confident than ever, building on the breakthrough of its 2006 album, It's Never Been Like That. The 10 songs are sleek and clean, as if the Strokes had kept pushing a little longer and maybe bought some old disco records. Case in point: "Fences" spikes the electro beat of Daft Punk with an urgent acoustic-guitar breakdown for splendidly danceable melancholy.

The blues will never die.

I must admit, I love the blues, good ole Kings blues (that be Albert, Freddie and BB)... and for good reason, they are timeless, and timeless music never gets old (well duh).

Thats not the reason blue will never die however. Blues will never die because it is so ingrained in modern music, from pop to hip hop, and everything in between. Through my endless scouring of the world wide internets, I have stumbled upon two modern rock bands covering (or just producing) phenomenal blues tracks...

I hope you enjoy as much as I did, and remember, the blues will never die.

Lion Mutilates 42 Midgets in Cambodian Ring-Fight

An African Lion much like this is responsible for the death of 28 Cambodian Midgets

Spectators cheered as entire Cambodian Midget Fighting League squared off against African Lion

Tickets had been sold-out three weeks before the much anticipated fight, which took place in the city of Kâmpóng Chhnãng.

The fight was slated when an angry fan contested Yang Sihamoni, President of the CMFL, claiming that one lion could defeat his entire league of 42 fighters.

Sihamoni takes great pride in the league he helped create, as was conveyed in his recent advertising campaign for the CMFL that stated his midgets will "... take on anything; man, beast, or machine."

This campaign is believed to be what sparked the undisclosed fan to challenge the entire league to fight a lion; a challenge that Sihamoni readily accepted.

An African Lion (Panthera Leo) was shipped to centrally located Kâmpóng Chhnãng especially for the event, which took place last Saturday, April 30, 2005 in the city’s coliseum.

The Cambodian Government allowed the fight to take place, under the condition that they receive a 50% commission on each ticket sold, and that no cameras would be allowed in the arena.

The fight was called in only 12 minutes, after which 28 fighters were declared dead, while the other 14 suffered severe injuries including broken bones and lost limbs, rendering them unable to fight back.

Sihamoni was quoted before the fight stating that he felt since his fighters out-numbered the lion 42 to 1, that they “… could out-wit and out-muscle [it].”

Unfortunately, he was wrong.

Yeah yeah yeah, I said it. I'm not embarrassed either, you know he can be a guilty pleasure of yours too. There is something about his solo stuff (Late 70's early 80's,post Genesis, though Genesis is awesome as well) that can right any wrong. Here are a couple tracks that I enjoy.
